On Lies and Hard Truths

We run an experimental study using sender-receiver games to evaluate how senders' willingness lie others compares their tell hard truths, i.e., promote outcome that the sender knows is unfair receiver without explicitly lying. Unlike in previous work on lying when it has consequences, we do not find antisocial behavior less frequent involves than does not. In fact, opposite result setting where there social contact between senders and receivers, receivers have enough information judge whether they been treated unfairly. this setting, prefer hide behind a implement by being dishonest rather telling truth. These results are consistent with image costs depending proximity especially can kindness of actions.
